Cort GB74

I have a GB34, really my first decent bass i guess. Has a MM pup so the slap tone i thaught was reasonably good, als othe jazz pup adds an extra dimension to things. Also it being active gives more headroom. Neck isnt the fastest i've played, maybe its different on the GB74?
There is also plenty of opportunity to upgrade, bridges, pickups, preamp, its all pretty versatile in those respects. I'm pleased with it, it's served me well on entering the wonderful world of bass, tho atm im looking for something with a bit more SHAZAM!

so i guess things between GB34 and 74 will be nearly the same, i think electronics and construction are better.

I've been looking for another Jazz type bass lately and since I'm allergic to Fender prices down here in Oz, I've looked at the GB74 or even GB75 in natural. I tried one at the local store and they are pretty versatile basses, you can get close to that Stingray sound, not quite but almost, and it covers all the Jazz tones as well when you switch that front 'bucker to single coil. It also has that midrange contour switch which helps bring out a nice slap tone. I might pick one up soon.

I got a GB74 in LPB a few days ago (which looks great BTW) and I highly recommend them.
The overall construction and finish is top-notch and it's a really good sounding and versatile bass. It doesn't fully nail the stingray sound (there's only one bass that can), but overall I would have to say that it the best bass in that price range (and maybe than some more expensive basses as well).

I got mine new for less than a used MIM Jazz and it far outclasses the Fender. Everything on the Cort is better: the construction, finish, quality of hardware, electronics, you name it.
