I agree, very similar to the Sire basses,great instruments except for the hardware. Spend a few $$$ more for hipshot tuners and bridge,you have a great bass.

The "A" Series comes with Hipshot tuners, bridge, and "name brand" preamps and pickups, at least they used to. Been awhile since I've looked at them since I already have one (a 2005 A5).

In today's market, there is really no reason for paying multiple thousands of dollars to get a high quality instrument. Basses have become very much like watches. You can get a $20 Casio that keeps excellent time and works as expected, or you can buy a $30,000 watch. But both indicate the same time. One just makes you feel more "special".

I just remembered that I forgot to post in this thread after the bass in OP was delivered. Sorry! Was too busy playing the new bass.
It's an unbelievable bass—not just for the money, either. Sounds good, looks good, plays good. Works in passive mode without the battery.
I can assure everyone in this thread the only place the Cort factory is cutting corners is how much they pay their workers. I own everything from Glarry basses all the way up to custom USA-made monsters and this bass hangs with the best of them. If this is what cutting corners looks like then maybe Fender USA can start cutting corners on their American made basses so I won't have to immediately do a fret job and shielding like I did on my Jazz Elite 5 xD

Does anyone own a Cort Modern 5? Any thouhts?
