My god Cort is building some absolutely beautiful basses now. Happened across this one today…

I gotten a good look at a few recently and am really impressed.
Now if they would just get a prettier logo…

Really love the Cort offering these days -- I just wish their 6 string output was more diverse, but I realize I am a niche customer. I'd jump on their multiscale model if it came in 6 instead of 5 strings, for example, no questions asked.

Yeah - does look like the 6-string line is only the A6.... although now that I know it exists will start giving me the GAS twich.

Cort has been killing it for some time now, it's not a recent thing. I have a 2005 Korean A5 Artisan that is probably the best built and one of the most easily playable of the 14 basses I currently own and my only 5 string. Boutique quality at a reasonable price point. Bought it several years ago for a funky dance band gig that lasted a couple years and split up, haven't had much opportunity to play it since as the two bands I'm in now don't do anything that requires a fiver. Neck thru construction laminated neck, Hipshot hardware, Bartolini pickups and preamp, just a really quality instrument. Keep thinking I should trade it for a same model 4-stringer since I don't get to use it much anymore...

I must be missing it too - if the insinuation is that they went cheap on the hardware & electronics...well:

They're likely not cutting corners. It's likely made as well, if not better than any Fender product. It's probably a simple matter of lower labor costs and not charging a premium for the name.

Cort is the actual manufacturer of their stuff. The "corner" they have cut is the profit for the middleman brand name you pay extra for with a lot of other brands.

Ive got a set of Bartolini pups at home waiting for my preordered NJS4! Cort makes great stuff, they're actually the number one builder of guitars in the world. This is a cool watch if you care enough.

These basses are not "cheap." Most retailers have them listed at $1500 which is pretty solidly in the upper mid-tier of factory made basses.

They're not cheap. They're just not overpriced. They're still making a profit.
