Seems about right, I'd go check it out and offer $550. Cash. If you really like it.

I found the MM's I tried to be heavy, and the necks were slathered in polyurethane finish. I didn't much care for the pre amp.

Make sure the truss rod responds to adjustment. Don't be shy, make sure it will go from relief to flat and back.

OP you should have grabbed that for sure! Sorry you missed out on it. You have to be careful about how much info you give away on something that is that good of a deal! Several years ago I found a really nice Warwick for sale in a local shop. It was a custom color that was not common. The shop owner had it for a couple of months and had reduced the price to try to move it. Knowing very little about Warwicks, I posted about it here on TB asking if it was a good deal. I made the mistake of putting the link to it on the shop's website in my post. Next day I went back to get it and it had been sold to someone out of state!
That being said, I don't have a problem with someone buying it and flipping it for a nice profit. Honestly I might have done the same thing if I got to it first.

I bought a mint Dingwall Afterburner 1 from a guy who posted on Craigslist. It had sat there for weeks. I'd even shared the link on the Dingwall site. Finally, I couldn't stand it any longer, so I emailed, got a number and called the guy.

He wasn't about to: take Paypal, a money order, check, or, ship the bass. Having turned down several offers that required that sort of unreasonable effort, he was willing to meet in person, at a coffee shop in Portland. (an hour from my place, an hour from his place, but he had errands in town) Which saved me hours of driving. By then he'd lowered the price twice.

We had a nice cup of coffee, and I left with the Dingwall. It still had the plastic on the cover plate, case candy, tools, and skb hard case. Perfect unplayed condition. I gave it a quarter turn on the truss rod and tossed the stainless stock strings, and threw on some nickels rounds.

Sometimes you get a great deal the old fashion way. A couple phone calls, get in the car and go get it.

I bought a 1997 USA standard strat today some roadhouse series? Its double humbuckers. Anyways point is it was on craigslist for $430 in pretty good shape with a hardcase missing 2 latches but I can rig it. Anyways I called him and he said 6 others had called , I was polite and informed him I wasnt a time waster and I was prepared to head over with exactly $430 in cash. Now if he posted it for $430 he would have likely taken $400 but me willing to pay that full price got me the guitar I believe. Its a great guitar and honestly its easily worth $600 maybe even up to $700. Sometimes you need to just pick up the phone.

Not a fan of basses that "busy". Too many bells and whistles, you gotta be a real pro to have any fun with that thing. I'd pick it up if I could make some cash on it, but not as a keeper.

I too would make sure to check the temp and make sure it's not too hot.

Roadhouse should be HSS I believe. I think the "Big Apple" Strat was HH? Believe they discontinued the Big Apple and changed the Roadhouse to MIM at some point.

OP - I guess you missed the deal on the bass? In my experience, if someone buys a bass new for $2k, they know what its worth. If they stole it, then they'll price it so the ad stays on CL all of an hour or two. No tracing it back through a throw-away email addy. Possible it was stolen and flipped before owner even knew it was gone.

I try to avoid any deals that look too good. If the ad is up for a couple days, less chance it's stolen, and I might poke around. Bought a USA PRS for the price of an import once. The guy was an endorsed artist, and had a ton of really nice ones. This one however was one he bought, and played the snot out of. Strung with 13's that warped the neck, and a bunch of dings on the body. Put on some 10's, cleaned it up, adjusted truss rod, now one of my favorite guitars. :)
