... two latest IronLabel series from Ibanez:

They don't have anything new other than bringing back the controversial ebonol fretboard, which most likely to get that really black finish to go with the all black flat theme.

The specs are the usual for each series:

The BTB has that wide 19mm string spacing at bridge, beefier neck-thru construction, and 35 inch scale, whereas the SRMS has that tight 16.5mm spacing, slimmer bolt-on neck, with Ibanez signature multi-scale of 34-35.5 inches.

The pickups are Ibanez proprietary Bartolini BH2's on both basses, with Ibanez own Custom Electronics 3-band EQ w/ 3-way Mid frequency switch, and additional EQ bypass switch (passive tone control on treble pot) only on the SRMS.

Nothing quite new other than emphasizing the metal theme...

So, any more inquiry on the best bass for metal?

Why do they call it metal in the first place? Why black? And what's with the matt finish? Shouldn't the metal natural color be something like grey, silver, chrome, or something shiny...?

I noticed the SR last night whilst looking for something else, but just glanced at it and didn't look any further. Looking now, it's an SR405MS painted black. I hope it's priced appropriately.

Nope. It shares the same construction as the SR405. Shouldn't have added the MS to the end as it's obviously been misleading.

there's a fretless version of that ax, too. pretty cool/interesting concept --- they sound great on the youtube demos!

per the OP: i think both of those axes are attractive. i also think they'd look killer as fretless.
