What is ebonol and what the hell is that metal thing just above? Does it work as a bass?

Some kind of synthetic material that resembles ebony. Some years ago I had a 2001 Cort Curbow 6 strings with the ebonol fretboard.

per the OP: i think both of those axes are attractive. i also think they'd look killer as fretless.

The ebonol is also a popular choice for fretless fingerboards.

that's right! i have one ebonol board: it does in fact remind me of ebony --- not as pretty, but it feels like ebony, more or less.


FWIW: i like all iterations of fingerboard material(s) that i've ever played = they all worked!

Pickups are the biggest letdown for these. Not the most "metal". I hope they released a multiscale BTB down the road.

It's more obvious to @Unmost and me that the 805 has more similarities: being a multi-scale, same scale lengths, same 2x3 tuner configuration (instead of 3x2 on 405), same neck profile, having MR bridges though slightly different type (MR5 vs. MR5S on the 805), same pickups, same electronics, even the build specs of body type has the same okoume wood... as oppose just to have the same maple and walnut neck.
