My son and I were at Sam Ash. He was looking at new Fender tube amps. I was wandering in the bass section with $130 Bday cash in my pocket. Not planned only by chance (cough cough). When there it was a 1996 Yamaha RBX 260 for $99. Took it off the rack for inspection and walked over and asked rep if he could take back to guitar tech for a quick truss rod adjustment. Action wasn't horrible but did need attention. About 5 mins later guy brings it out and the action was playable. Went over and started playing the bass and it sounded good and didn't feel like a cheap bass. Grabbed my phone and looked it up. Alder body, nice maple neck and rosewood fret board with faux pearl dots. Light weight a God send for these old shoulders. I have 3 nice basses but hey I wound up getting it for $89. Took it home cleaned it up and set it up to my taste. It could be the best $89 I've spent. Will test it out later this week at our gig as a back up.
