Waylon Dreaming My Dreams is the album. Lots of great recs here though... I'm usually not for bonus tracks but the version with the "Bob Wills Is Still the King (live)" bonus track is the way to go.

Much of the interstitial music was by Blanche

Since this is the BASS forum I want to point out that the bass player for Blanche is Jack Laurence who is also with Jack White's Raconteurs and The Dead Weather. I hope Jack White doesn't retire Dead Weather because I really dig that band.

If anyone likes Blanche I would suggest 16 Horsepower or anything by the band leader Eugene Edwards. Similar but way darker and intense.

You know you think of Buck Owens -and the twangy telecaster and the simple bass lines , but that harmony he had with Don Rich was greatness. I love his clear voice as well. Still love to listen to him when i am heading to get my coffee or having a few beers from time to time.
Favorite songs -Hello Trouble, Truck drivin man and Streets of Bakersfield.
Bonus -Don rich doing "wam bam"

Jamey Johnson - That Lonesome Song
By far my favorite modern-era country album. He just oozes soul. There's also some fantastic bass playing on it.

The Little Willies - For The Good Times
Surprising to me, Norah Jones knows country. My favorites from this album are "Lovesick Blues" and "Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves".

Unknown Hinson - Live & Undead
I highly recommend this album if you have a sense of humor. Not only is it funny, but Unknown is an awesome guitarist.

Hey all. Recommend me some good country. Nothing too Pop. Any decade, sub genre. Looking for something completely new to me to listen to. Who doesn't like the man in black. What else is really good?

If possible point out some great albums. It may be old fashioned but I prefer complete albums. You know albums that marked something new, something great.

We did that one "on the fly" at a charity barrel racing horse event and the singer for 3 Doors Down, Brad Arnold, had walked on to sing a few with us(his wife does the barrel racing with the horses IIRC) and asked if we knew it. Our keyboard/guitarist and drummer did so away we went! We kept it on the growing list and have used it once in a while when a walk-on/sit-in guest singer shows up and knows it. NOTE: when this happens in our band, I just listen to the song in my head and play along with it and our band.
