We got some snow where I am yesterday, but it didn't amount to much we I live. GOOD!!! LOL

Sorry to hear the 5'er isn't holding it down for you. I suspect your 4'er is 19mm strings spacing and the 5'er is 18mm, so that alone could take you out of your playing comfort zone. Keep at it and make a schedule to play it weekly.

NGD - New Guitar Day!

Just arrived this morning is this beautiful CP Thornton HTL (Homage To Leo) Strat. I've not plugged it into a guitar amp yet, but loving the way to feels and plays. I never played a Fender Strat, so I can't compare this HTL to one. But it feels and plays like my PRS 22 Custom, which I like very much.

My bass rotation has come around to my CP Thornton basses. For the next three weeks I'll be playing my CP Thornton basses.
I've been jamming on my HTL, too. A good playing guitar. Very similar to my PRS Custom 22.
Seems this club thread has lost its enthusiasm.
Oh well, play on CP Thornton players, where ever you are.

Okay... I chickened out and played my four-string. I was still occasionally making the "Oh no! That's not an E string!" mistake and I didn't want to risk doing that on a gig. September 16 is the next outing and I will definitely play the TR5 for three sets at that one. (Gallery Cabaret in Chicago)

:laugh: Not laughing at you, but laughing at my own experience with a 6 string bass that I bought and took it to a gig. I'm a 5'er player and I sold that 6'er as quickly as I could after that gig! My brain and muscle memory were both confused. :roflmao:
I wasn't thinking down the road enough at that time, and now wish I had kept it.
Good luck with your Sept 16th gig with your TR5. :thumbsup:

Hey, all! I'm fairly new to TalkBass, so I though I'd stop by and say hello! I bought this beautiful CP Thornton 5-string bass back in May of 1994. Chuck built it in June of 1992. I've had the pleasure of owning this masterpiece for over 28 years and it still sounds as amazing and plays as smooth as the day I bought it! The only thing it's lacking right now is an intonation screw and spring on the E-string saddle, which is easy to fix as I'm sourcing from Schaller.

Nice bass,
Last time I got together with Chuck we talked about building some more basses.
He has been buried with guitar orders and unfortunately hasn't had the time to start any bass builds.
Pitfalls of being a one man show unfortunately.
However what ever he builds he puts his all into them.

I never thought to ask him if he can build a bass with this great pine he is working with.
The guitars made with the pine have been fantastic. I have a Classic II made of his pine and it
is fantastic.

Welcome to Talkbass! A nice looking CP Thornton bass. Interesting pickups placement, too.

I recently ordered a Classic II from Chuck. He mentioned his pine builds had really nice tones, but I went with the ash.
I've never owned a Fender guitar/bass, but soon I'll have a Tele to go with my Strat branded with CP Thornton. :D
