Crackling Noise Whenever Cable Moves in Input Jack

There’s a TBmember, @XBass, I believe is his name. He makes and sells cables that are very highly regarded here.

Someone correct the name, please. I can’t make the tag to his name work.

He shows his cables through a Facebook page. Look for “XBass Cables” there.

I don’t know for sure, but I think you have a barrel type jack; 1.5 or so inches long that goes through the wood at the edge of the body. If so, and the ‘93 Foundation has been used a lot, the cleaning might be a temporary fix.

Barrel jacks are kinda average when they are new. The spring terminal that snaps into the recessed area around the tip of your cable connector when you plug it in is not a very robust on most barrel jacks. There’s not enough room inside the jack to build it beefy. Some are better than others, and the best one you can acquire is the one to get if you have to replace one.

If your bass has a chrome plate on the edge of the body with a jack mounted in that plate, you can get a much better quality jack to replace it.

Interesting comments about Mogami. I have Mogami cables that are a decade old and get daily use that have no problems at all.
I’ve had (and may still have) a few cables with the Mogami name on the cable itself. But pretty much any cable that comes into my possession gets Neutrik 1/4” connectors. So I have no experience with whatever 1/4” connectors Mogami uses on their cables.

And I’ve had no issues with the Mogami-branded wire.
