Bearing in mind its had a pickup upgrade and its been de-fretted - hmm...I dunno, can't blame the guy asking for more but price-wise I'd at least have a look if it were near me and I was interested
Might be a fine playing bass but it is overpriced in my opinion. I think it is a rare case where mods increase the resale value of a bass. This bass is a Squier Precision 5 String. A reasonable price would be 50% - 60% of MSRP. The mods are just extra goodies.

LOL. I love it when people try to translate their upgrades into straight cash. One of the worst things one can do value-wise is upgrade something and then sell it. It cost him hundreds to upgrade - he'll get less than half of his investment back.
I have a Marcus Miller 5 string that I dropped the John East preamp into. I think it makes the bass sound better when compared to the stock preamp. However, if I were to sell the bass, I could really only hope to get what a used stock MM 5 goes for. Furthermore, my market size might even be smaller due to my mod.
FWIW, I'm very happy with my mod and I don't plan on selling the bass.

I got my MIJ Squier Pbass off of CL with a Badass, Hipshot Dtuner, and Schaller Straplocks, for under $100.
If the mods are something I'd find useful, I don't really mind buying somebody's lab rat.
Especially for less $ than the seller paid...
To the OP- really comes down to how much you want the item, and your ability to haggle some. I'd pass on that, but I already have a fretless 5. The one in the ad is a cool color, though...
