My buddy found a beautiful yellow Rickenbacker on Craigslist in Charlotte for $100. However, we don't live in Charlotte and the lady's husband just died; it was his bass and she didn't want to keep it around. We think she's foreign (English wasn't so great) and that she didn't know much about bass because she was selling such quality at such a low price. I would have felt bad paying that little money for that great of a bass.
Also, (from the post) how are a new set of strings a $75 value?
If that's gold, what do you call the $500 fireglo that was on the local CL about six months ago? (Or, on a non-bass note, the $2000 Roland TD-20S V-drum set that was on the local CL two days ago?)
The challenge is having the cash on hand when these ridiculous deals come along...
I dunno, $1000 for a Ric is a "good deal" but not like an insane never-see-it-again deal. I see a Ric for about that amount on CL every couple of months.
