It seems more a matter of not planning for the way people actually live. People are going to come home and plug those cars in after work, which puts a lot of strain on the grid at a particular time of day. Now that we have more plug-in cars, the impact is being felt. They need to figure it out, because people are going to charge their cars when they're home, regardless of what they're told to do.
I was told today by someone I don't really know that they registered 121*F in the sun on a backyard thermometer. I put some water out for the critters in the back yard last night, went out to replenish and cool that down, and some of my potted plants were in pretty bad shape. Watered those, but they aren't recovering in this heat. Might lose them.
Today we had our furniture delivered; we've been waiting for it since April or so, and of course it came on the hottest day of the year. They had to come through multiple doors to move the old stuff out and the new stuff in, so at one point we had three doors open to the outside heat. HVAC has not recovered from that; it's struggling to get below 78* and I just gave up and turned it up to 79 to give it a chance to rest. It's cooler in what is now the new guest room than my bedroom, so I'm hanging out in there this afternoon. Nobody here wants to cook today; I might order delivery.
