Hi everyone,
I am interested to make both bass and guitar cabinet IRs to make home recording easier. BEFORE everyone says "just use third-party IRs" or "if you can make IRs, why not just mic the cab when recording?" here is my situation:
I have access to spaces where I can mic cabs, but this involves moving EVERYTHING from my apartment studio to a recording space and I want to avoid this. IRs will let me record at home. The band I play in wants to make custom IRs so we get closer to our preferred sound instead of continuing to use third party IRs.
My idea/question:
Would a class D power amp from a bass amp be neutral enough to make both bass and guitar cabinet IRs?
I am thinking of purchasing a solid state amplifier for my bass anyways and thought I could route sine wave signals through the FX return, but I don't know if this would be as good as using a PA or stereo power amp.
Any tips would be helpful.
