Hey, all - not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I've been wanting to network and play with more musicians lately. However, I've realized that, for bass, I don't really have anything that I can point to as a sign of my playing. I've considered creating a soundcloud account and uploading audio so that when I meet people or place an ad for what I want to do, I can point them in this direction. However, as a bassist....I'm a little at a loss. I'd like to do custom compositions, but I feel as though I need other instruments for that. (I could go the solo bass route and multitrack my bass - do guitar parts and bass parts, and pad things with a DAW - but then what's the point of finding other people?)
When you all are in this situation, how do you proceed? How do you put together a portfolio of work - a showcase - that demonstrates your skill level, is musically interesting, and is original and provable? (Note that I'd like to do audio only - I wouldn't like to do video.)
