Creating a Steve Harris 'Tribute' Rig

Hey, folks. So as a little hobby this summer, I have decided I want to create a rig in the vein of Steve Harris' setup. Mostly because he is who inspired me to pick up the bass AND I love his tone. I'm not looking for authenticity as that would be impossible, just something inspired by his setup. I'd love to hear any fellow Harris fans input on what gear is vital and what you'd recommend. Obviously, I can't obtain his Hiwatt pre-amp clones, but I could probably track down some Trace Elliot gear. Marshall 4x12s? Not in my lifetime or budget! So yes, I'd very much appreciate ideas and recommendations to help me build this shrine to my bass hero.
Thanks,
Up the Irons!

Steve once said in an interview that an Ampeg Svt was the closest he came to his sound without the Hiwatts. Maybe an Svt with a 4x12? He also used a Trace Elliot 12 band smx pre and a dbx compressor.
I used to get a pretty good 'Harry tone using the Hiwatt model on my Bass
Pod Xt.
Take care,
Brent

You con go Tech 21 Leeds + power amp route. The Leeds has that Steve Harris tone in spades and with the speaker simulation engaged you get his very iconic 'clank'. You can also add a Maxon cp-9 pro+ compresson which it's very close to the dbx compressor he uses IIRC.

It's not as flashy as having a Hiwatt or Reeves head but it'll get you really close IMO.

Good luck!
