Speaking of adverse affects. It's common to hear far too much sub bass guitar from subwoofers in smaller setups. E to G blooms booms and thunders and A returns to scheduled programming.

I'm curious if crossing over @ 80 Hz would adversly effect the 1st harmonic of an open E (or say an open A's 1st harmonic @ 110 Hz)?

you shouldn't be thinking of it that way, the PA is not your bass amp.

get the tops and subs to be evenly balanced with each other (both crossover point and relative levels), get your bass tone together to where it's nice and even from highs to lows, and you'll be fine.
