This last thread got me wondering... I have one of these, but haven't used it for years, and the Fishman Blender is long gone. I have a new band situation where it would be nice to have the GLM. Would it be possible to make it compatible with 48v phantom power with a resistor or something? FDeck, are you out there?

But might be a bit expensive since it comes from Schertler...

I think two or four well-chosen resistors might work (assuming the mic needs lower voltage phantom power the same way), but Francis or Drurb do know better than me. It also depends on the current needed if phantom power could be used. That's the reason why some preamps could be phantom powered and others don't.

Sometimes the companies only rate the minimum phantom power needed but it might work with standard phantom power too (but better check that first).
 
I believe that's true if your mic still has the XLR plug attached, the circuitry that steps down the voltage is in the plug. If you've removed the XLR connector to use with a blender or wire it to a stereo (TRS) connector and the mic is unterminated, I think it requires somewhere around 6 volts, and could be damaged by plugging it into full 48v phantom power. I mention it because I've learned this the hard way before.

According to the Fishman Bass Blender manual the Crown GLM 100 they used ran on 6 volts. The reviews at the time suggested that the Crown GLM 100 had been modified for 6 volt operation.

Right. I got it originally from Fishman, so I think it came with a 1/4"F mono connector already attached. I think it should be alterable, though, so it could go straight into a board. Below is a picture of the jack end. The white wire goes to the shield, and that little part (resistor?) says "B-PH-1N5-242. Anyone out there with the requisite knowledge?

You definitely need something that will step down the voltage to somewhere closer to 6 volts. The original xlr jack on the glm 100 and 200 had a circuit in it that did this. Mine got damaged in a flood and i ended up finding an akg( I think) micro mic phantom power adaptor. I think the power supply packs for the akg mini mics would probably work, the B9 and B29 power supply. those show up used on ebay every so often pretty cheap
