cry me a river:crying: literally

ok guys, so older jazz is definitely not my forte, but my wife runs the band since shes got the pipes, and she wants to cover cry me a river by julie london, and i can hardly make out what the bassist is playing (hes playing a stand up), and is hitting some tweener-notes so it make picking it out hard on a fretted bass.

any help?
thanks in advance
julian
