Who Replied?there were 26 people listed on the time sheet when i went out. i got a 198, and i know two others who got 212 and 227
Rats I just got the cut offs from my orchestra teacher. it is 211 so the person who got 212 lucked out
CT All-State auditions are sort of a joke. I made it into the Orchestra two years in high school, but both times I was still pissed off when I left the audition. Usually the adjudicator is some cello student from Hartt with a stick up his ass. I would say if you make it, great. If you don't make it, try not to let that worry you. Your score has remarkably little to do with how good a bassist you are.
ha thanks for the boost man. the judes were very hard, they told me i needed to raise my bridge because i played over the fingerboard too much not realizing that i had a fingerboard extension. i still have next year anyway(still dont know if above cut off is the actual one)
ha i just found out that my official score is a 204 i missed the in by 7 points which is pretty balls. but if you think about it, what is 7 points or 5 points? by all means id like to think that were still of the same caliber as those who made, there were just too many going for the same spots. when its that close you have to still feel good about how you did no? i do.
it was the last movement of capuzzi, 1-3 somethin(the first whole measure rest not including the 9 bars) and then poco meno to the first full measure rest.
You should try the same one in F, it has alot more to it and has a really cool fast section then a pizz section which is very strange for a classical bass solo almost sounds a little jazzy. It's in f so it's a little higher but for the most part it seemed easier.
yeah dude, like three times he was like, the english edition is awful look how much better the normal one is, and then a lesson or 2 ago hes like, well maybe well finish the whole thing. ill probably go through it regardless since i paid 25 bucks for the whole thing
Oh man, this year was no fun. I had to wake my sorry ass up at 6 in the morning to get there to audition first, and get judged harshly. I got a 219, which I felt was pretty low for how well I played. But oh well, I made it in. Apparently Mickey Reisman (works at the Hartt school, violin teacher, sometimes subs as CYS conductor, for those who don't know him) was furious with the auditions this year, and says he wont' have another student of his audition until the college students they have judging us get their **** in gear, (not the words he used) which I agree with. Apparently one of his students, Sura Cho, the Northern Regionals concertmaster, barely made the cuttoff for All State. She is in incredible player, so obviously something is amiss. I hope I didn't lose points for having a fingerboard extension as well, haha. Knowing how these things go, I wouldn't be surpised.
