Curious - who has a gig tonight or this weekend.....

Its that time of the week again! Does anyone have something good on the horizon? I'm playing my regular bluegrass/old-time gig at Verde in Brooklyn on Saturday night. Nothing beats a room that an acoustic band can play sans amps and PA, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this gig lasts!

Our band has had challenges getting dates lately - the scene here is pretty competitive and there are fewer and fewer clubs with live music for more and more bands.

Anyhow, we're doing a place called Bogey's in Chandler AZ tonight.

You know, I don't care how old I get, but I just about live for every gig I get the opportunity to play. This scene from the Rookie pretty well sums up my feeling about playing at gig time.

We're playing a giant echo chamber this weekend. Cement floor, block walls and a metal roof. It sounds like the natatorium at the YMCA in there! The wait staff is super hot though..... I'll have to see if I can borrow my wife's camera...... :D

It's our monthly visit to the "fancy" restaurant downtown tonight and tomorrow. OK pay, not a great crowd (needs more/different promotion and nights) but we get good food at the end of the night and the staff seems to like us and treats us well. We try to return the favor.

Piano, guitar, bass and drums. Some standards, more R&B and soul stuff. Some "light pop" I guess.

Have three gigs; tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. Playing in the pit for a high school choir concert. They do it cabaret-style; lots of little tables, dessert and coffee served. Sunday night, I have the first rehearsal for a theatre run of ANNIE, which if it performs as well as most shows do in this season slot, is going to be extremely lucrative.

Yeah, I just got the word. We're back in Helen, GA again... outside.

Round 2! FIGHT!
YIKES!!! I feel for ya...gonna be a bit chilly tomorrow in North GA. My Blues/R&B band is playing on the square in Decatur tomorrow at 2:30...it'll be a little chilly but it pays well and maybe we'll even get a Christmas party or New Years gig out of it. It's a blocked off Wine Festival so it should be lots a fun:cool:

please do!

i am playing in marshalltown, ia tonite with the originals band. and tomorrow nite in des moines with the blues band. these are the last gigs for me this year as i work retail and things get busy!

its been a good year of gigging. and i had a blast rocking black sabbath last weekend! crazy bunch of drunks up in decorah. fortunately, the floor sloped away from us, so the ever-growing beer puddle stayed away. kinda fun watching slutty-costumed people falling on their butts all nite.

Not too bad, really. We played from 1:00 to 5:00 today. It was in the upper 50s and we had a good show... Quiet but good. So anyway the gear is stowed, got a martini, and am watching the Arkansas vs. South Carolina game. Good night, y'all.

rmkesler,
Yea, not too bad in Decatur either.... 4000 people walking around drinking wine and we played a really tight set 2:30-4pm...still a little chilly and we were under that giant gazebo on a concrete floor with no sun and the stage sound is like a swirling tornado....lots a pretty, partying ladies though and great fun!!! Oh yea, and we sold 42 of our little 4 song cd/ep's at $5 each....a good day!! dm

Had a little gig at the new restaurant/bar in town with the jazz trio last night 4-7pm.

Venue is pretty small so we're crammed into one corner. Drummer played his abbreviated set = snare, hat, 1 ride. Old timer can make this set swing!! Electric piano. I played through a GK 1001/210 combo.
Place was packed!! Good time was had by all!!

Next week's gonna be scary. GREAT tenor player, Lee Wethenrow, from Portland, OR coming down to play. I always lose about 20 lbs in nervous sweat when he sits in! Should be fun! Last gig of the season.

Pretty sure I liked your band on Facebook and saw your postings there. Very cool sounding gig. :bassist:
