So I am getting a custom made bass. I have a few questions for you guys! The body shape is a telecaster/g&l shape. It going to have beveled edges. But my main question to you guys is what pickups? I play in a pop punk/post hardcore band. I really like quarter pounds and jazz bass tone. So I was thinking quarter pounds and a vintage jbass pickup. What do you think?

Custom bass question

I'm thinking about throwing a badass bridge on it. All the hardware needs to be black. And the color I'm thinking placid blue or mint green
Actually I've had that exact set up in my 4 string for 24 years. It's a monster.
Here's one mod that you'll need and when you hear it you'll know what I mean by "need". I saw this in Bass Player Mag and just had to try it. I was curious.
Put in an all controls bypass switch for each pick up. These will allow you to run it normal with volume and tone and wire the pickups directly to the output.
The J will sound better. But the 1/4 lb P, mother go god, that pickup comes alive. It's absolutely huge. Once I did it, I NEVER ran that bass with the controls in line again.
I think someone even makes a pot that does this now, so it's even easier than the switches I have.

Removing the volume pot and the tone pot + capacitor takes a bunch of passive (and possibly crappy) electronics out of the signal path that don't need to be there IF you like the tone of a wide-open bass. It'll usually be louder and brighter, because you're removing all extra resistance and capacitance from the circuit.
