Custom Bass Wait Support Group Needed [Part 3]

... Things are going well; new city (Indy)/new home/new adventures, just moved at the beginning of the summer for Amy's work. We are starting to like it here, that is till we have to experience what winter is like.

Looks like I'll have a Nordstrand 3band pre along with a custom set of Ulyate DC's in wood blocks Chris built for my decade old Benavente 6'er installed next month.

Most excellent!!

Getting closer..

Had the Ebony wood covers added with Abolone cross inlays and wood Knobs. Should be finished this week. It's been a long 4 months.

4 months? Amazing build-time, especially considering what you're getting! That equals my shortest custom-build wait time, for a Martin Keith.

My latest ACG bass is so achingly close now!
I'm super excited about how it's turned out too :hyper:

I should have another little project kicking off with ACG in the not so distant future too.
The first ACG I ever bought, which to this day I wish I'd never moved on, was amazing, but my tastes and requirements have shifted a little now, but it's still the one that got away...

Hopefully, a short scale 6 string version of this will begin to take shape before the end of the year, with a few alterations. We've already picked out the body wood.

I apologize for the large pics. I started using Imgur since Photobucket isn't working on many sites.

I posted the Kronbauer next to my KR as a size comparison. The KR is more or less a deep concert body and I think 25.75" scale on the low E string. The Kronbauer is a jumbo and 28.6" scale. I generally tune it C-C or dropped A#. The high strings seem to lack a little tension when I tune B-B. The maple jumbo still allows great chord clarity when tuned B-B.

Overall, great guitar. I think the overall size is about my limit since I have small hands. I was thinking about getting a 28.6" scale 12 string, but might end up doing something like 26.5" scale with a slightly heavier gauge than normal 12 strings. I'd think 28.6" and 12 strings might be a bit much on my hands.

I'm seriously blown away by your instruments. Do you have any recent recordings, even just casual noodling? I've heard some on your FB page, but I haven't been on as much lately. If you could post some, I'd really appreciate it...I'm getting more into high 6 string (E-F) playing, but I still consider myself a hack in that context, so I like to hear what others are doing. An acoustic is also one of the few things I still feel like I'm missing.

Looking pretty amazing already. Are the final specs posted somewhere? Off to look...

I’m sure I’ve posted specs somewhere, probably the Stambaugh thread, but they changed a bit over time. Here’s the final rundown:

5 string neck through fretless
34” scale and 19 mm spacing at the bridge
Maple neck with zebrano stringers
Chambered flame maple wings
Buckeye top
Buckeye knobs (Devin Cline)
Ebony fingerboard
Hipshot Ultralites
Hipshot Type A piezo bridge
Bartolini Quad Coils
Bartolini NTMB GFL+ (fretless) pre
Gloss finish
Polyester coating on the fingerboard
