Are you using a Zoom H4N to record those clips? They sound really good and I was thinking of picking one up.
The Acoustic DEFINITELY sounds better than the Streamliner...similar, yes, but the Streamliner has that emptiness that alot of modern amps have. Somehow, the Acoustic fills in that emptiness. There's just more SOUND there...fuller, thicker, more character. Not as sterile...it's slight, but it's the difference between disappearing in a mix and being heard.
Sorry if I seem dense here, but did you simply place the aluminum dust cap over the existing one?
okay, i used the SVT with all of the tone controls set at noon and i kept the volume somewhat low so i could close mic each speaker without them interacting too much. the first clip is the paper dust cap and the second one is the aluminum one. To me, they both sound really good, but the aluminum just has a bit more upper mids and top end.

Now hearing them side by side, I must say I gravitate towards the rounder sound of the paper cone. I also think I'm hearing a hint of distortion (?) coming from the aluminum cone, but maybe I'm mistaken...
John, did anyone congratulate you on your tasty playing ? Not the usual slap orgy, but a simple tasty bassline, really well played. Nice one.![]()
