Custom Pickguard for Höfner CT 500/7 Verythin?

:help:
Any thoughts / recommendations for how to / who to have make a custom pickguard for my new Höfner CT 500/7 Verythin bass?

A few years ago, the CT's had white pearloid pickguards, but the newest CT's don't have a pickguard.

I would love to add either a black or tortoiseshell pickguard...

personaly I think thy look better without the PG:

But looking at photos i see they are not very big so I think you can buy any pickguard that is big and have someone here send you a pattern PG then cut one down to fit your bass. I did the same recently when making a Telecaster Thinline bass. The regular Tele PG would have covered the F-hole so i used a Pbass unit and cut it down to fit my need ( I had no pattern to work from )

Good luck on a very nice bass. I agree that the pearl PG looks nowhere near as nice a black or tort. If the CT & the very thin do in fact use the same guard ( as suggested by scuoco )it should be available to you. You would only need a can of Black paint to make it look good.
This is my idea of a good looking Hofner archtop:

here is a link for the hofner owners to get you started finding someone to make you a cardboard template to use as your pattern:

Take care. Bob

i have to disagree on this particular instrument. i think it looks a thousand times better. i'm willing to bet that its the same guard on the CT Club bass. it would be the nature of a chinese guitar factory to share as many parts as possible.

I think it looks better w/ the pickguard...just don't know if I want to go w/ the pearloid white or something black or tortoiseshell...

Odd that your top pic of the 500/7 Verythin bass there has a pup switch like the VT six-string guitar. I noticed that there is one on FleaBay w/ one as well.

My Verythin bass, nor any other one I've seen in a couple stores (Rock N Roll Vintage, Chicago) had the switch either...
