It looks ok-ish, but something that'll probably get tired quick
Those routes are really, really sloppy man. Not to bust your bubble and I know you may not have had the proper tools.
Personally I really hate those old style P-Bass PG's.. especially with the chrome control plates.. totally not my thing at all.
Geez you people are animals, though I gotta say! I swear the only reason anyone has anything negative to say is because I've done something they didn't think of or wouldn't do themselves. Does a Marcus Miller bass look like some random negative comments?? Because that's basically what this is, only with a little bit of personal flare.
Oh well, whatever.. I guess it just goes to show you that it's better to please oneself than try to please everybody else eh :/

Granted there are a couple of VERY small, slightly sketchy spots, but "really, really sloppy"? I think maybe you are confusing a design you may not necessarily like to bad workmanship, IMO. Ah well, to each his own.

Nope. I think it looks pretty poor myself, and I generally dig it when people come up with something I never thought of that happens to be GOOD. I like weird-shaped basses and novel designs, when they are done well.

It's different & that's a good thing. As long as you are happy with it, go with it. The double sided tape idea was really smart.
Alright - the pickguard has been completed, and here it is installed - I think it turned out quite well!
i think it can grow on me..... i think i like it. its just im so in love witht the standards shapes of the FJ and the MM that it just doesnt seem right... but give it time. back in the school days when ibinez was king i thought basses with pickguards were "square". how far i have come.
"Sloppy" my ass (or is the bASS?)...I don't know about you all but I've never cut my own pickguard much less designed my own...all I've ever done is shaved one or two down on a corner so they fit my jazz just right. Looks great to me! Props for designing your own pickguard...there could be a future to that!
I still don't like the spaces around the 2 knobs. if those were completely filled in, it'd be a great looking bass... IMO of course.

I think you're right - it would be a nice looking bass with the cut-outs filled in, but I like the cut-outs, personally. I didn't want it to look EXACTLY like a MM
