Customer refund difficulties

I can't tell what's at stake here -- I can't imagine he built a body and neck from scratch for $350; did you send parts to him for modifications? Or did he order parts and mod them for you? Here, if you want to make good on this, pay him for the parts themselves, but not for any of his custom work -- his failure to deliver, he eats the costs there. That's fair. If they WERE completely custom, send 'em back. Not to mention all the shipping costs he appears to have eaten in this whole fiasco.

+1 I think we are missing some details here.

Was the $350 a down payment or full price?

Were all the materials for the neck/body purchased by the builder?

First, my apologies to JC Customs, whose name has been removed from my original thread. Because the luthier here emails from several different email address, one with "JC" in the name and the other with "Customs," I mistook one for the other.

Well it is JC Basses for me not JC Customs, but someone seems to have forgotten the difference. I don't blame you in the slightest bit for the mistake someone else made, but thanks for trying to help out. I appreciate it.

It's pretty amazing how people can turn on you so quick on these forums. They hear one "bad" thing about some guy that has a similar name to you...

In the interest of fairness, after reading the comments in both threads, I have paid JC the $340 that he refunded me. The work he did is worth it, and with a few more weeks of routing and drilling it'll be quite the instrument indeed. Thanks for talking some reasonable sense into me, everyone.

Good deal!

On a side note, I got an email this morning saying how I have poor business practices and how 18 months it way too long and blah, blah, blah. I am afraid that someone has confused HJC Customs with JC Basses. Sadly I may lose business over this.

Send 'em to me, I'll straighten them out on that count. I got yo' back, Jared. :bassist:

...and eventually you're gonna build one for me from the ground up...
