CV Bass

I do a lot of trading and came into a white jazz with a tort guard, I have owned dozens of bass guitars and this one is a keeper, I know it is at the high end of Squiers but it is a joy to play. I just wonder if others out here feel the same ImageUploadedByTalkBass1379691001.541437.jpg

I am more of a P-bass guy but I played that exact model at my local music store one afternoon and was talking to the sales rep about it. The CV is very gig worthy and looks damn sexy.

I really want to try the P version to compare but love the tort on white body.

It's all about the necks on these CVs. The hardware and pickups are ok/passable, the body is light and has a near bullet proof finish. But the necks are a dream to play.

... that is if you like a very high gloss neck ;)

... if you don't, a little steel wool or sandpaper of choice, and then I agree with you whole heartedly ...

... if you like vintage fret wires that is ... :)

I have a Matt Freeman P which is basically just a CV in black and with a maple fretboard and I love this thing. The only P bass I've liked better has been a recent USA Fender P, but I still prefer the neck to any of them. I love high gloss and I am loving the chunky neck. Great bass and great buy...not just "at this price"...easily worth twice as much IMO.

I haven't tried a CV Jazz but I have a 60's P
Don't mind the background lol.

Changed the white guard to a red tort one I got on fleabay. I didn't like having the holes for the "finger rest" since I always found it got in the way more than it helped.

I agree with all the other sentiments about loving the gloss neck. All I usually see around here is preference for smoother necks. But what's smoother than gloss?

whats this? another tb'er who doesn't completely hate gloss??? thank goodness, I thought I was all alone ;)

No, I'm one too. I like the satin finished necks (all three of my basses have them) but all the basses I had or played before that had glossy necks, and I had no problems with them whatsoever. I would buy a bass with a glossy neck no problem, and I wouldn't bother to "de-gloss"it, even though that is an option.
