Lol. I'm going to assume the red car belongs to her then. Although I'm beginning to see why New Yorkers don't need cars. I navigated the subway myself today and although it was confusing is for to be lies stress than trying to drive in Manhattan!
Yup, exactly on all counts! As to Tat's car, it was really funny tonight - we went out to her birthday dinner (had a very nice time) - and she valet-parked her car. When we were coming out, the valet guy went to get her car, Tat went to snap a selfie of her and me, and just as she took the picture the valet guy drove her car into the picture! (Pretty sexy car for a grandmother, by the way ....)
You're good at selfless Tat. Mine from NY sightseeing today kind of sucked. I learned to ask people to take a pic for me since I was on my own.
Hey Chuck, I never mentioned this because it did not occur to me to. The restaurant where we had dinner with you in Toronto unfortunately had a catastrophic fire a few months ago. Not sure what the plans are for rebuilding though.
wow - that's too bad. Hope all is well with you, though. Hope to get back to Toronto one of these days ....

Thanks, J. It's taken years - but here's my secret - if you're right handed, be on the right -that keeps your arm out of the shot. Then - shoot from mostly over your head looking up a little bit. In most lighting this gives you a great view and lets you get everyone in the photo for at least head and shoulders. In really bright light, you might have to angle your arm down a little and shoot more straight on to avoid putting a shadow on the faces with your phone. Then - practice, practice, practice.
Had a really rough gig with the girl band last night. The guy who usually runs sound couldn't make it, and we had non-stop issues with the PA. First, the BL couldn't get it set up without horrid feedback, then it kept cutting out, then the mixer completely died. We got through maybe 3 songs and had to call it a night. Venue owner was kind enough to reschedule us. We look happy enough here, but trust me, it was pure torture.
I feel for you PA. I do the sound for our band and I listen to the bNd complain while I am working my ass off to set it up. "Why do we need all this stuff?" "Can we play soon?" "We don't need a sound check?"

For sure, sound engineering requires an expertise all its own. I think she greatly underestimated its difficulty/ complexity. The worst part was that the PA died just when the music was starting to feel good. It was a whole lot like getting interrupted during sex, just as things start heating up.
Your sound engineering is definitely key with a full band. Our drummer handles it and luckily he's both pretty good at it and very patient. Last Thursday, however, we were in an event at a local college where two bands (one of them, us) were filmed in live performance so that the filmmaking students there could get experience with that. Oddly given the setting, the vocal monitors were terrible - although in the booth those producing the event said everything sounded great. Our lead singer was unhappy about it - but if we get some usable video out of it, it will have been well worth the effort.

Hey I went golfing today! It was only about 40 degrees but I dressed for it.Happy Easter, everyone! May we all overdose on chocolate bunnies and Peeps!
I turned the dirt in my garden box. And we got my adult student and a friend of his to help with other yard work. Hubby needed help finishing a hole for his newest ham radio tower and then we'll do concrete with the same kids, a friend of mine and a bunch of wheel barrows
It's been too cold so far even to turn the dirt in the veggie gardens in Rhinebeck, but I'm hoping to turn to it this weekend.
I so did not miss the child and the *noise* when I got home from NY. Hubby got us a room in Manhattan for our last three days and I'm glad I did my touristy stuff the first day because I was pretty tired of the noise and having to rush across the street or be plowed into even before the light changed. And $8 for a bottle of Corona in a returaunt! No where we ate had interesting beer and by the time I found the bar in the Murray area that looked cool again all I cared about was taking a photo and being warm again.
