D and G strings issues

The D Ang G strings don't sit correctly on the neck. This is causing issues when playing notes on . Any suggestions?

I believe you are correct. Thanks for giving me the name of the part. I am pretty green on the bass as I am sure you can tell !
No problem. One additional thing you can do is have the windings on the post pile up above the section of string that goes to the nut. Like this:
See how all turns of string around the post are over, never under the straight section? This helps increase the angle against the nut and keep the string from escaping the nut slot. Especially important if the string retainer you use is *not* of the bar type shown in the picture, but instead the typical coin-shaped one used on Fender basses, which only covers the treble strings.
