Dad band names

Being inclusive is part of our art form. I just think it’s more important to lead with that example rather than get some cheap jollies at someone else’s expense. I’m far from offended. I’m just saying it’s bad practice. Period.

Not sorry for peeing in your Post Toasties.

Lighten up.

Pretty much, lighten up, no reason to get out of shape on this. Just hitting the back button and go read a different thread would be an easy solution. This is a thread with a bunch of people joking at their own expense, no harm in that at all. Poking fun at our arthritis, gray hair, lack of hair, aches, creaks, and general wear and tear reminds us of all the mileage we've accumulated over the years.

Do I like being classified as a "dad band" member? Maybe not the first words I'd like someone to use. But I'm in my mid 50's, a 30 year marriage and we've raised three successful kids on the right track. So whether it's the term I'd pick for myself I check all the boxes. There are far more important things to worry about.

A couple names we considered and discarded before we picked Hijinx.
Manifest Dentistry
Dad Intents
Old Souls
Touch of Gray
Banjo Conspiracy - can't forget that one, I didn't get it.

None were that great. Enjoying this thread.

Thanks for the lecture (not).:rollno:

Age is no different than gender, skin pigment, or any other characteristic that defines us. “Poking fun” at any one of them is at someone else’s expense. If you want to make fun of yourself, that is an entirely different matter. That’s all I was saying. Just try to be careful to keep the two things separate. The latter is perfectly ok. The former is not at all ok.

How 'bout a dad band name that only the dads are old enough to understand: "Larry, Darrell and Darrell."

Side story: my youngest daughter is 31 and she has a couple of college friends that she hangs out with all the time. One is named Jesse, and he's a real character who kind of wanders in and out of the area as he works a variety of restaurant and bartending jobs. Sweetheart of a guy and a family friend, goofy but great.

I was joking around with him, and at one point used Sam Kinison's scream from Back to School: "SAY IT!!! SAY IT!!!"

But I didn't realize that movie's old enough that he had never seen it. Scared the poor guy!! He got over it, and although he now says it makes one of his best stories for his friends, I'm still apologizing.

More dad stuff on my part. Maybe next I'll start on Gerry Ford jokes that no one remembers.
