The only sports I watch on TV are the ones I enjoy playing: futbol and tennis. I think its natural that when you love playing a sport you'll enjoy watching--and thus learning from--the best. I can't imagine someone loving the game and not caring to see, not having an appreciation for, the way Barcelona or Brazil play. I guess your appreciation of the game is different.

That's a fair argument, but perhaps I can shed some insight. I grew up without cable television. As such, soccer games were almost never on TV except for whenever World Cup was on. In addition, I don't like watching the majority of professional soccer teams because there are just way too many players who take dives at the slightest offenses. It sucks all the soul out of the game when players do this.

For the record, we aren't armchair TV fans...we go to games and we've earned our stripes in terms of following our respective teams.

Have him call you coach and treat him no differently than any other kid on the team. You don't want the other kids or parents thinking you're giving him preferential treatment.
