D'Addario Chromes on string-thru Mustang?

Is it okay to use Chromes on a string-thru Fender Mustang? Will the strings break at the bridge??

I know there are others that want to know, too.

The short-scale Chromes don't fit -too short. I think we'd need the medium scale set.

Thanks for the responses!

The choices for a Mustang are quite limited because, although the scale of the bass is short, you actually require medium scale strings to fit properly. And there aren't too many string manufacturers that offer medium scale flats.

From what I can gather, here are our options for the Mustang: a) Rotosound Jazz 77 medium scale
b) Labella 760FL-MUS
c) D'Addario Chromes medium scale
d) Thomastik Infeld JF324 medium scale

My favourite flat is the GHS Precision flatwounds. But they don't make any in medium scale! :-(
The other brands listed are all beautifully made strings - they're just a little too bright sounding for my liking. The TIs are the closest to the sound I like.

For half-wounds: GHS Brite-flats

Medium scales fit perfectly.

Then Chromes long scale should be OK on am Epi LP Special bass - right?

Normally, there is enough play in the string to allow for string thru installation. An easy way to verify - when you take a string off - measure from the top of the ball end to the kink in the string, where the string enters the tuner. That will tell you the actual measurement. So you'll know whether you need Long or Super Long. If I had to guess, i'd say long is fine.

Bumping this old thread to clarify. La Bella does not recommend using their flats with a string through body, but the La Bella 760FL-MUS set is an exception. It is specifically designed to be used with the Mustang and its string through bridge.

The La Bella 760FL-MUS flats are made specifically for this instrument (Thru-Body w/ Smaller Diameter silk wrapped tuning post sections).

However La Bella does now make all of their flats with a Thru-Body option available...

Thank you for the comment. I read about the Thru-Body option before, but don't recall how a person would order them. Is it a different part number or what?
