Your playing the 40/55/75/95 set as you said.
I'll try to measure the action for you. I play with fingers most of the time. The bridge height didn't change for me but the pickup height did. And again, we're in Eb so strings are very pliable but not "TI pliable".
Don't know about for Eb, but 6/64 is standard spec so they say.
Never played that setup except for when Fender had them.
From 40,55,75,95 the next step up is 45,60,80,105. There is no in between, AFAIK.
You don't find going from 110E to a 80A a bit off balanced feel wise?I have been using the 105 chromes set on my P basses for about 3 years now. I really like them, but I was wanting a little more from the E. I went to bass strings online and purchased a custom set of 45 (45.7#),60 (45.2#),80(43.7#) and 110 (46#)I like the E a lot better now. The 105 felt ever so slightly floppy to me at 41.5#. I normally tune in standard and occasionally Drop "D". Just thought I would share.

I'm with you there. The 105 is a compromise, and I think a 107-108 would be perfect if it existed. There is no right or wrong, just personal preferences. I personally use 45 60 80 105 and tune DGCF as standard. For the occasional drop tuning, however, it makes sense to have a little more tension in the heaviest, droppable string.I have been using the 105 chromes set on my P basses for about 3 years now. A little bit at first, but it quickly became comfortable. Although I have been told I can be a little "off balance".
What gauge are your Chromes?So, my chromes are like almost 3 months old, and I was wondering if it's normal for the E string to be temporarily deader than the rest.
I'm not talking about output or sustain, they are just fine. It's just that the zing on the E string is almost totally gone and the rest of the set still maintains a bit of brightness.
I hope it will all even out with time.

From what I've heard it is typical for that set. The balanced set I'm using (40-55-75-95) seems to minimize the tonal imbalance you describe. They're ALL zingy! We'll see how long that lasts..
