Right on. Didn't expect to see enough replies to bother with numbers, but since there are so many of us in just a few hours of this thread, I'll put together a list later this evening and start with the handing out of numbers.

Of course, I gotta take #1!! Lol. I've got some afternoon running to do but I'll get on the list as soon as I get home this evening.

Everyone be sure to tell me if you want a number.

I'm also intrigued by the Ernie Ball Slinky flats, so I may try them at some point (if I ever need to change strings again!!). I haven't had any problems finding Chromes, but I'm very open-minded so I can imagine I'll try them eventually.

I also build basses so I've always got plenty of string guinnea pigs!!

I'm a long time Chromes user, as a hobby player and as a pro Luthier. Almost all of my Scroll Basses that I build go out with Chromes on them. My own basses that I gig with all have Chromes on them. I have some sets on early basses of mine that are 18+ years old, and they still sound and play just fine.

I strung my TBird with the ECB81s and I really like the tone and the feel. With the higher tension, I was able to set the action lower and still not get any fret buzz when digging harder. I am curious though about the new EB cobalt flats and would like to try them sometime in the future if they don't show a tendency to gunk up excessively because of the gap in the outer ribbon wrap. The Chromes seem to offer more tonal flexibility than some of the other flats that I've heard.

I'm not a fan of any Ernie Ball strings, but that's just me.

Just got me my first Tbird and love the dark growly sound and was curious about flats on it, did you feel you lost any versatility or "cutting power"?

Had to pick new strings for a Mike Lull that I picked up. Took a chance on getting flats for the first time because the tone on the bass was just so super bright. I wanted to tame it a bit.
Put the chromes on. Really dig the feel and the tone. I can slap with them and they sound great.

I'm in. My MIJ Squier P-bass has been wearing a set of lites since I got it about 4 or 5 years back. I've used LaBellas before. Loved the tone but the tension was so high it kept pulling the neck out on a few basses I tried them on. Found chromes and haven't looked back. Debating putting a set on my Roadstar or keeping that as my round wound bass.

I'm gonna step out a bit and be clear about the rules of this club.

You must have at least one bass that is currently wearing Chromes. That's the only rule.

Feel free to discuss all things Chrome, and by all means compare them to other strings.

Reviews are always welcome, and if you've recently converted to Chromes from another flat brand, be sure to tell us what made you make the switch and describe the differences.

Enough talk. I gotta play some bass!!
