Interesting phenomenon...LOL
VERY scratchy sounding strings arco according to your clip. Is your bass fully carved or plywood? Maple or Poplar or something else? I don't think I'm willing to sacrifice my arco tone on my (poplar back/sides) Kolstein Guarneri. They might work on my plywood (1930s King/H.N. White Mortone) but for $190 I'm more likely to buy some new Spiro Weichs for my plywood and keep using the Corellis on my carved bass.
Phil Rowan said:I have the Zyex D and G on my bass so far (replacing EP regulars). These are some loud strings, and they remind me a lot of Dominants except that they're a bit easier to bow soon after installation. I've been working a lot on Mozart 40 (upcoming concert), and found the Evahs to be a little too slow on the fast 8th note spiccato passages, while the Zyex seem to have bit more tension and better response time (or is it reaction time.. you know what I mean). I think there's an extra Zyex A out at school.. the Spiro Stark E is staying put though, I will say that.
Tommy el Gato said:So, do we have any consensus yet on how long these things last? I remember someone commented saying his didn't last very long. Still, I'd like to replace my G and D with these, but I'd hate to have to buy new strings again in another 5 months.

hensonbass said:I have Zyex medium gauge G,D, and A strings with Spiro E on two basses and they sound and play great whether it's acoustic or amplified. Had them for three months now. My favorite string combination so far.
Bijoux said:I just played a couple of basses at a store in town with the zyex and they didn't do much for me. For both pizz and arco they were ok but I thought they were pretty average. I still think EPs regulars are superior both for pizz and arco.
