If one day you get accused of something horrific you did not actually do, you'll be glad there are steps before the bullet.
...And eyeballs.
I'm pretty sure the evidence in this specific case was iron clad.
I know in St Kitts (in the Caribbean) has recently reintroduced the noose to combat the rising surge in violent crime...
Doesn't it cost more tax dollars to execute someone rather than put them away for life? Or somethin' like 'dat?
I hope never. Murder is bad, no doubt about that, right? No one can murder, right? So why can the government? Dude, execution, by whoever, is friggin murder!
I say: no more death penalty.

Appeals and such eat away at your tax dollars like woodworm in an old chair.
Oh, and also - just shooting someone in the head is cheaper than putting someone in prison for a day, and is certainly cheaper than going through the whole court/trial process. Why don't we save everyone a whole load of money by just shooting EVERYONE who is accused of committing a crime? Think of all the judges, lawyers, etc, who you wouldn't have to pay! In fact, why don't we just abandon the whole system of law, give everyone guns and let people just sort it out themselves?
Depends on the country but for the US it does cost more as the cost of a case where the death penalty is being sought is higher and even if the person is convicted, the chances are that they will mount more legal actions to try and get their sentence changed/themselves freed before their execution date.
Also, most Death Row prisoners will be held at top-security prisons, meaning that the cost of each prisoner's upkeep is automatically higher.
Agreed, but some people just need to be dead. This guy is a great example.
Let's assume that the shrinks decide that this guy, if properly medicated, is "sane" enough to be released into the public. Would you want him living next door to you?
You guys are calloused. Yes he is a murderer. Not disputing that, but the guy is INSANE. If he is insane he cannot be held accountable for his actions. From time to time I work with mentally disabled teenagers and let me tell you they cannot be reasoned with. You can tell them 100 times to stop doing a certain behaviour and give very good reasons why. They still do it. Thats because their brain is not normal. Same with this guy. The State should not kill somebody because if are insane. They should be incarcerated to protect society. This individual also did a great deal of harm to himself and really the prison that let that happen should be held accountable. The guy has a history of doing such things and they basically just let him harm himself. Where is their accountability? Someone should get fired over this IMO.
