Oh I need to be a part of this, let's see if I can dig up an old picture right quick.

Well here's one at least, guess I need to take some better photos of this one.
Also I added a pickup selector switch since this was taken.

Know what I just discovered about my Dead-On Longhorn? The third fret is considerably off. Notes on it are way sharp. Briefly considered having it moved, but it doesn't sound sharp on a gig, and I would have never noticed had I not been plugged into a tuner at the time. Plus it's a Dano...it's supposed to be imperfect ;)

My parents want to get me a danelectro I found at a local shop. Its a 97 longhorn MIK. They want four-hundred but its solid red which I read it was really rare.

sorry for the weird tying, some of the keys of my computer don't work

I have bought 2 in the past few years, $150 for one, $235 for the other. Granted i got good deals but I would look around a bit. I have seen them sit at $300 for awhile.

Saw the always excellent Yo La Tengo in Milwaukee last night.
Both James and Ira took turns on a beautiful Dano shorthorn 12-stringer.
Very cool to hear YLT get a wide range of that signature Danelectro tone!
And admire a bassist who does a little bit of everything.

I think I'm going to look for one with a part of my tax return. Just lots of mojo in that bass.

my fav of my dano collection and pickup spot is great. if you are new to this bass - 2 items you need to know. pickups are not reverse wound like a jazz so some hum all the time but IMO manageable, 2 - that model will be a bit of a neck diver. IIRC my has guitar size tuners so getting strings can be an effort especially flats.. Labella actually makes strings for danos with guitar tuner sizing.

I play some neck heavy basses, so I'm used to that.

Does anyone ever swap out their pups for something aftermarket?

Not sure if I'd go roundwound or flat.
