Darkglass alpha omega ultra

I just got my AOU and have been messing with it a bit and cycling through the cab sim. I’m currently running it AOU>hyper luminal> B3K with a reverb and delay in the effects loop. I’m thinking about running B3K (more as a tone shaper because it’s clangier than the AOU) >hyper luminal> AOU.

My rationale is sending my bass signal to the B3K which I want to control with playing dynamics, to the comp then to the AOU because it’s a bit more finnicky. I’m digging the sound vs the B3K but still like having the raw option in the chain. I see that a lot of you guys are running yours later down the line .

I run my X in front of my regular A/O and it works out really well.

On my board, I have a B7K V1 and a Alpha Omicron.

Is any of you guyz is using the AO Ultra as a Clean preamp with added distortion channel? How would you compare the clean side of the AO Ultra to a B7K?

I'm wondering if I can sold both pedals and get a AO Ultra. Thanks! :)

Hi! New here. Yesterday recieved my AOU. Headphones output and DI output with cabsim engaged are hissing as hell. Does anybody have expirienced the same problem? All the demos on youtube seems pretty clean in terms of cabsim noise.

I believe adjust the levels has been Dougs suggestion in the past. How much gain are you running and any pedals in your chain before it ? Im running a bunch of gate in my chain.
Now I'm testing only bass->AOU->audio interface chain. Bass and interface themselves are almost dead silent. In order to filter the noise out of the pedal with a gate I would need a gate that works via XLR, cause noise is going out from DI output of AOU

hey guys, just updated my darkglass suite
*** ?!? Now compressor can be enabled also on Alpha omega pedal ? :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: @Darkglass

Is the EQ\tone shaping of the AO Ultra the most appealing feature for you? Do you prefer the drive of one over the other?

I prefer the drive on the B7K more than the A/O. I use the A/O as an preamp, which I find it's drive better suited for. I think if needed I could go without the B7K, but it's drive is a lot more percussive.

I've been waffling back and forth about picking between a B7K Ultra and a standard AO. What do you feel is the biggest difference between them? Do you find both unique enough to keep two, or are you doing A\B comparisons?

To me the B7K is used as a clean/not so clean preamp into a poweramp and the Alpha Omicron is a distortion for some accent during a song. The two of them are not into the same territory for my use.

I'm the opposite. I greatly prefer the drive of the AO(had a B3K for years) but I also like a lot of clank, so i use the X to give the AO more of an edge up top.

I imagine the B3K would work for that as well.
