Out of curiosity, was there a specific action or something that caused some/all of the shutdowns? i.e. Scrolling blocks, editing presets, making changes to NAM captures, etc?

Asking because my only 'freezes' thus far have come from scrolling different NAM captures within a NAM amp block in a preset. This was mostly/all in v1.10. I think numerous people reported the same issues with that. I haven't spent a ton of time editing presets since the 1.11 update. So I can't say if they've fixed this or not...

Switching between presets. Particularly between banks. Complete loss of audio. Only reboot fixed it.

I believe mine also shutdown after switching between presets. Weirdly, I plugged it in this morning (gig was last night) and it seems fine again.

Hi! Sorry to hear you're having issues.

For us to investigate further, could you please check the following:
  • Is audio working / passing through Anagram?
  • Does anything happen with pot presses (block bypass in signal chain, access Mixer with pot 6 long press)?
  • Are you able to change presets after booting up? If so, please load an empty preset bank, save and reboot again.
    Then try to make adjustments and report the behavior.

With the update to 1.11, the Send/Return is functioning on ALL of my patches - regardless of whether Send / Return blocks are in that particular patch.

I'm wondering is Send / Return is now "global" without blocks being present - or maybe I've hit a bug in 1.11?

For reference - I was previously on 1.07 and it behaved as expected where the Synth only sounded where explicit Send / Return blocks were deployed in a patch.

Hi! If you load an empty bank (all 3 presets of the bank empty), are you still getting signal out of the FX Loop?

Audio is there
Nothing happens when the pots (knobs) are pressed and turned to adjust the effects. Also I do not have access to the mixer.
I can add and remove presets but I cannot make adjustments. Can I do a factory reset?

I've encountered the same, though on the newest firmware as well. However, I'm pretty sure it only goes crazy and shuts down when there's significant gain differences between NAM captures and I switch to one so loud it immediately peaks the outputs. I've found that dropping the output gain on the NAM block as low as it can go before I start switching through captures has decreased the number of freezes I experience considerably.

A note on the Anagram freezing during a gig, I find it tends to happen if I switch between presets too quickly, especially if I'm rapid-fire jumping from bank to bank. Ever since I set up my MIDI switch to let me choose through my presets before actually sending the command to change banks through the Anagram, the freezes have stopped.

Maybe an usual and borderline stupid question, but has anyone of you used the Anagram with a double bass yet?

I play both electric and DB, though not both on the same gig. But since my DB could use a bit of a signal boost and the XLR out is very handy (I mostly play DB over a PA if amplified at all - utility blocks like a HPF would be great to use on DB too), I'm wondering if using the Anagram for it could be feasible. My DB is using a Shadow SH 965 pickup, which comes with a preamp. I could not verify what the output impedance is, but as the input impedance of the Anagram is 1M, it should get me a decent baseline signal, right?

Of course I could just test it myself, but I'd be interested in first hand experience, if anyone can offer some.

Why yes, yes I have. Historically I've used a Fishman Platinum Pro for my upright, but I've taken the anagram to the gig instead a couple times and it's worked out ok. I'm not exactly comfortable with the combo yet, but I think with a little time and adjustment it could work out just fine.

Hey @IvanBassist - I just did the test with a bank full of empty presets and I do still have the MXR Bass Synth coming through loud and clear from the FX loop.

What do you recommend at this point? Should I try to re-install 1.11 or maybe this is a bug that can be patched in 1.12?

yikes! some of these reported issues are troubling. I've been hanging around here and eagerly reading everyones posts since the Anagram was released and I have been very interested in grabbing one in order to simplify my pedal board (which is actually not very elaborate). But some of these failure/freezing reports continue to make me hesitate. I have the time I'm the next month (4-6 weeks) or so to make changes to my pedalboard before my gigging season starts heating up and I don't have the time to change things up, but I just can't have a piece of gear that has known failure issues on a gig. I have stopped using any number of things when they failed even once on a gig, there is just so much going on already, that I need stuff that just works.

Now, I'm sure there are plenty of folks using the Anagram that are having no issues at all, and I'm not trying to shade the Anagram at all either ... it's a very appealing device for sure ..... but it's got to be rock solid for me to make it part of my live gig rig.

As with anything, negative reporting always outweighs positive or "everything worked as expected" reporting. I've been using Anagram as the centerpiece of my pedalboard since spring of 2025 without issue on gigs. I was able to generate one of the freezing issues by loading the entire catalog of Shiftline impulse responses and rapidly scrolling through the list. Outside of that single instance it has been 100% rock solid in terms of reliability on performances. I use it on every gig, and if I had one on the books tonight I would use it without backup and not event think about it.

I've frozen mine a few times, but luckily I test my gear to the point of redundancy before I actually take it on a gig so all the freezes happened in my home office where the stakes were super low. Point is, every freeze was able to be replicated and isolated to a single issue, and that issue has up to this point been exclusively "I tried to do a thing too fast."

So... Most stable platform in the world? Not really. But totally workable as long as you don't fiddle too much or switch between presets and banks too quickly

I totally get the negative reporting thing, but these seem like legit issues reported by TB members. I'm also aware that there are folks out there, like yourself, who seem to be using the Anagram on gigs without any live issues. I just noted several reports here in the past week or so, just as I was aiming to get one, and was kind of dismayed as my finger hovered over the "buy now" button :cool:
