Darkglass Element as iOS Interface?

Hey all,
With the latest firmware update on the Darkglass Element, one of the new features is the ability to use the USB-C as a recording interface. The only recording ability I have is Garage Band in my iPad, which I would like to try to do. I’ve never used the iRig or anything to record on my iPad, so this is all new for me. I’ve tried to simply run a USB-C out of the pedal and into the lighting cable input in the iPad as well as USB-C to the AUX in, but when I try to record anything, all it’s picking up is from the external microphone on the iPad. I’ll be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is the Element just not going to work as an interface into the iPad?

I wish I could help. I use the element successfully as an interface into my PC, but no idea how that works for an IPAD. I don’t have an iPad, but is there a setting to change your input device?

On the product page it says the Element can be used with a PC or Mac and specifically mentions not needing drivers on MacOS. So it doesn't sound like it's supported on iPads? I would probably post on the Invalid Link Removed as Darkglass seem to be really good about responding to posts there. Who knows, if it's not supported now, you asking about it might make it happen in a future update.

At the very least you’ll need an Apple lightning to USB “Camera adaptor“ in order to connect the USB from the Element. The Lightning port on an iPad or iPhone is not a standard USB input without a dongle. Not sure about iOS compatibility, but it may well be compatible.

Bumping this thread. I just ordered the adapter to try this on my iPhone GarageBand. Then I realized - I wonder if this works with the Element. I know it works with Scarlett. So I figured any usb audio interface would work. Has anyone else successfully tried this? I’m trying on an iPhone 7 Plus.

So, here's what I could get: I could record into ios GarageBand through the Element, but I couldn't monitor the track. If I used a hub and ran the headphones out to the aux in on the Element, I could monitor the track, but GarageBand would stop receiving audio from the Element (this persisted even if crosstalk was allowed in settings). Maybe I'm missing something, but that's my results.

What if you just use the headphone out from the hub rather than the element headphone out. Then you’re monitoring directly from the iPad and should hear both the backing track and the bass you’re recording at the same time?

Forgot to mention that I tried that, too. Nope, doesn't work. As long as anything is plugged into the headphone jack of the hub, then no audio would record from the Element.
