Sometimes when I play a one channel amp is OK as I just don't want to be distracted by messing with anything. And there is certainly something to be said for KISS, because if I set up in a noisy environment simple is best. But in general I much prefer dual channel amps so I can have two distinct tones preset and ready to go. I usually do not use pedals and to have variability and versatility with dual channels allows me to have more creativity. I think more than two would make it easier for me to get confused.

I try to keep it simple as well. Passive Precision w/ flats, alternating fingerstyle and pick playing, Darkglass VMT and a Suppa Phak Phuk boost pedal for when I need to give it the business. All feeding into a Mesa Prodigy all-tube amp. The touch sensitivity of the VMT, change in tone between finger and pick (often within the same song) and the natural overdrive of a tube amp especially when I engage the Suppa Phat Phuk is all I need. I wouldn't see much benefit to more than two separate channels.

Will the head ship with any type of gig-bag/case? Are there plans to produce one? The band I play with does a lot of small regional touring, and I'm concerned about my ability to keep this head protected.

For touring use I'd go with a hard case. I've got this one for my Aggie Th500, seems like it should fit the Darkglass as well.
