Date this Ampeg V4 Cab

Hey guys,

I'm looking to find an approximate date of manufacture on this cab. I'm assuming it's a mid to late 70's? Early 70's V4 cabs tend to have a silver badge with black print. I have heard of getting the serial #'s on the speakers to help date the cab but this cab is loaded with Rola Celestion G12-65. I have never seen these stock on this cab so I'm definitely thinking it was reloaded at some point. Cabinet S/N: 151520-9

That's funny my ~'78 SVT 810's serial number is 151520-5. Your best bet is the cosmetics and the speaker date codes as Ampeg's serial numbering system under Magnavox makes almost no sense.. If they're original to the cab you should be able to ballpark it pretty easily. If not, if the badge is original and silver with black aluminum instead of painted plastic and that makes the cab an early 70s.

According to the Ampeg book, Rolas were indeed used in the V4 cab as an upgrade to the Eminences. So pull a speaker, get the date code from it, and you can ballpark the timeframe. Late 70's would be correct, though.
