Well.. I've seen advertisements for dating websites for decades, but all I want to know : are these things really good for finding a partner?
I doubt it...

How do you have such a vast knowledge of such worthless information. You should go on Jeopardy. I'll put in a good word with Alex for you.Yes if used correctly.
1.Be honest about what you do, what you will put up with, what you won't.
2.Never answer a response (or make one) until thoroughly re-reading their profile(a couple of times maybe) and comparing to yours. Too many people will bend the very "rules" they put in their profile just because they like your face, etc. Don't fall for those that bend on first blush like that and don't be one either - you'll regret it every time. E.g. You cannot date a die-hard vegan and sneak out for a cheeseburger - don't do it, nobody should have to live a lie on a daily basis.

I store both worthless and valuable knowledge by the bucketful - it's what Lurch does between saying, "you rang?". I don't watch much TV . . . so no, I'll have to decline. How do you have such a vast knowledge of such worthless information. You should go on Jeopardy. I'll put in a good word with Alex for you.![]()

But seriously, I used a dating site to meet present spouse so I have some perspective (11 years ago). I was trying to be careful so as not to make my life worse. Went through some truly funny experiences. I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I had to.
Traditional method is relatively slow and clumsy, and a highly inefficient initial "vetting" process. The relative anonymity of the dating site can allow you to specify a plethora of lifestyle factor in a short burst. You could spend several dates trying to get to the same results.People are people whether you meet them through friends, a bar, or the internet. If you're not meeting the right people through "traditional" methods, it's simply another avenue.
That paintbrush is so wide it goes off the page.
Sorry I quit calling you - you weren't nearly as pretty as your profile pic.I always thought you were using TB as a dating site. I was convinced your plan was to hook up with one of us.

Marriage is the disease - but you could be the cure.Much like a dating service, the people you meet on TB are mostly deviants that are already married.

People are people? So, you're just like John Wayne Gacy? That paintbrush is so wide it goes off the page.

Nope, you're spot on. I agree with Ed that sometimes internet dating can be more efficient, but I think a lot of that can come down to social background of the user. The way I understood unrep's post, was that you will meet the same ratio of wackos or incompatible people to compatible people in the real world as you would virtually. Correct me if I'm wrong, Mr. Unrep.
