The way I understood unrep's post, was that you will meet the same ratio of wackos or incompatible people to compatible people in the real world as you would virtually. Correct me if I'm wrong, Mr. Unrep.

Wackos - hmm, I may have to agree with that, even push for the concept the wacko factor is slightly higher and HIDDEN due to the anonymity. But the compatibility basics seem a little easier to chop through with a site that requires detailed profiles. The way I understood unrep's post, was that you will meet the same ratio of wackos or incompatible people to compatible people in the real world as you would virtually.

I think it would improve the level of discourse if people state whether they have personal experience with dating sites. You know, check for compatability with reality.
Yes if used correctly.
1.Be honest about what you do, what you will put up with, what you won't.
2.Never answer a response (or make one) until thoroughly re-reading their profile(a couple of times maybe) and comparing to yours. Too many people will bend the very "rules" they put in their profile just because they like your face, etc. Don't fall for those that bend on first blush like that and don't be one either - you'll regret it every time. E.g. You cannot date a die-hard vegan and sneak out for a cheeseburger - don't do it, nobody should have to live a lie on a daily basis.
+1 to all of this. I was skeptical of dating sites until I actually tried it as an experiment. Had a few interesting dates and then found an absolutely incredible woman who is amazingly the most compatible mate I've ever had. OkCupid was not lying about the 99% match. Even stuff that OkCupid can't really quantify in match % we are very compatible with. My results may not be typical, but for vetting out possible good matches for dating they do work if you use it correctly and honestly.Traditional method is relatively slow and clumsy, and a highly inefficient initial "vetting" process. The relative anonymity of the dating site can allow you to specify a plethora of lifestyle factor in a short burst. You could spend several dates trying to get to the same results.

Psychopaths are masters at hiding what and who they really are.It helps if you have a good BS sniffer too so you can weed out the "crazies" and also you really should pay close attention to how a person wrote out their profiles and how they wrote any PMs to you if you engage in a conversation. I would not even talk to people with poorly detailed profiles or had obviously bad spelling and grammar errors in their profiles and if their first message was some crap like "just wanted to say hi!". I specifically stated quality communication was a must for me. The way people communicate online is usually good indicator if I would get along with them in reality.
I've been browsing, but, unfortunately, I'm not 6'2" or over, trim and athletic, and make over 150k a year.
I hope I never need to date again. If I do and it's online dating, I'm drinking myself into a pickle first so my internal organs are useless .

It's the external ones that are the issue.

I've always thought Home Depot after 9 pm was prime for working women who own a house - I met wife #2 when someone gave her my number to rehang some doors at her house. I swear I've felt stalked at that place - gee, answer a few questions, check out the rack and you've got a shadow who keep popping up every few aisle. "Hi!"My fav is the Laundromat. I have an inhouse laundry system now and the impact of that part of my life is something I didn't think about until I read you ad.
Thanks
You can hug me, at least in your mind. I can't stop that.I just want to hug every cat, but that's crazy. I can't hug every cat.
