Dave Roe RIP

Heard from a couple Nashville friends that we lost Dave yesterday. Besides playing with country greats Dwight Yoakam, Vern Gosdin and Johnny Cash, he also cut a ton of studio tracks with a ton of great artists in rock and country. Didn’t know him but I was a big fan of what he did. Condolences to his family and friends.

I met him at one of those "The Day the Bassists Took Over the World" celebrations during a NAMM show several years ago. Nice guy.

An true all time great. One of my favourite bassists period.
There's a video of him playing Wheels with Dwight Yoakum, i heard my dad watching it when I was 18, first time I thought I understood what pocket meant.
A few years ago I sent him an email about slap lessons, his reply forever changed how I respond to people asking me about gigs. Just an absolute gentleman. Not to mention the lesson...
Music is a better place because of people like him.

I think I saw him live in Nashville during the 1990’s. He was playing Funk on a Carvin. He killed it.

That’s interesting that he took up upright long after playing electric, not the usual path. Moving to fretless is enough of an exercise.
