You guys are beating on Ellefson like he said, "I'm hurt, I don't want to play!" I know I'd want to play through with an injury, but I think Mustaine was just looking out for his friend.

Ellefson's had a lot of practice playing high. Not in a very long time but I'm sure it's like riding a bike.

Brave warriors need to choose their fights.
A concert is not a war. You're sick, stay home. A cancelled gig won't change history.
There is no merit in showing up to deliver a half assed performance just to collect your pay.

Wow, I can't believe the attitude of some people. It's just a gig. It's not like he was performing brain surgery on the president or something. The guy gets hurt and the bandmates agree that they'd rather let him have a day or two to rest up. Health comes first, no matter what, and frankly, David doesn't *owe* anyone a d*mn thing. He's just a musician and another human being, but it seems like some people feel they are entitled to getting a show no matter what. All they have to do is get a refund and catch the next available show. I don't know about any of you, but I'd rather the band perform at full health anyway, then watch a show with a bass player sitting down in a cast, especially at a thrash metal show.

I think you both have a point, but at the same time, this happened before they were about to go on. It wasn't like the fans got notice ahead of time and could plan accordingly. They're there for the show. The show must go on. I don't think Ellefson should have played, but I do think that someone should have taken his spot. Megadeth is such a veteran band, it surprises me that they didn't have a contingency plan for this.

Also, this wasn't just a regular show, this was a festival - and Megadeth was the headliner for that night (Invalid Link Removed). They definitely should have played without Ellefson. At least Mustaine is the one who went out on stage and said that they weren't going to play (since it was his decision).

I've done martial arts tournaments with broken and cracked bones. Pretty sure this guy could have played his bass for a couple of hours with a sore foot.
What's with rockstars breaking their feet these days? It's like the choking on vomit of the 2000s.

I cracked a rib two years ago. I did not miss any work but the Dr. told me working would not make it any worse, well it did and he did not give me any pain meds. I was in agony a night or two and had to go back to the ER and get meds. Broke a finger one night at a Mill. Did not go home but every time the index finger wiggled I felt like throwing up. Broke a collar bone, that puts you down for a couple of weeks. Could not get out of bed without help.

Our singer broke his left arm AND his right leg...and still performed all our scheduled sets with two casts on. And this is no lounge act, he's up there doing death grind powerviolence style vocals.
