Just goes to show how crappy something can be when taken out of context. Not that DLR was ever considered a talented singer per se. Those HAAA-YAAHS of his sound so much more repetitive when they're only separated by silence.

  9. Definitely makes you appreciate the backing vocals alot more.

The American Idol parody was hilarious but I'm still not sure if its funnier than the isolated vocal track itself. I knew DLR didn't have world class pipes, but geez.

  11. It's not a *good* voice, but I love it.

  12. It's A Great Vocal Track. It's an integral part of Van Halens sound. Right up there with Eddie's Guitar, Alex drums, and Mikes Bass.
    Take Dave's vocal out and you're left with....sammy hagar:meh:
I know there are a lot of snobs here who will cut on Dave, But that vocal is perfect.

In fact, That vocal track doesn't show how bad Roth is, It show how good he is.

    Amen.

I mean, at the end of the day, it's entertainment. How many hits are *that* entertaining without anything underneath?

    also, best.ringtone.ever.

  14. It's not good, but it IS an integral part of the sound. I'd pick DLR over Hagar any day, personally.

Lol.. But in all seriousness, Sammy was good.. Not as good as Dave, but he was still good- he takes a lot more crap than he really deserves just because he followed Dave up in Van Halen, and to be honest, Van Halen really needs Roth to be Van Halen..

And besides, Sammy was at least a better fit than Gary, eh?

Sammy Hagar is a great vocalist.

Diamond Dave is a great singer.

HUGE difference there. Vocalists can hit any note you want them to, perfectly to pitch, great sustain. Singers can work that note for all it's worth and make you throw the horns in the air.

That... is the difference between Sammy and Dave. Sammy was a perfect voice, but Dave was ROCK N ROLL.
