Davie504 finally playing live

There are some haters here. Davie504 is an extremely talented musician, at the top of his game.

Also, he seems to be a financial success despite never releasing any recorded music.

I dunno...haters gonna hate.

I'm not a hater, just don't like his slapstick demeanor. Not my cup of tea. If I may.

He's a talented bass player, not so sure about his musicianship.

To each their own.

Great player and big props to him for forging a living playing bass.
I'm not a fan of his ADHD style of video production but have enjoyed watching many of his video's just for the mind blowing skills he has.

In saying that, in that video at least he appears to have zero stage presence. It does show that he hasn't grown up learning to work a stage and a crowd. His playing live is still multiple levels above what i'll ever achieve though.

There are players who have been playing publicly for years who haven't learned how to work a crowd or have any stage presence. If that's actually his first time playing publicly (I'm not convinced it is), he did alright with it.

I believe that it's his first time on a stage as the scheduled performance. Maybe he's done an open mic here or there. He definitely gives introvert vibes who found a way to over come through YouTube.
Things about Davie that I respect, his work ethic, his chops, and his finger on the pulse of content creating. If you're hating on the guy and calling him names I hope you realize that you're actually the prick.
I think it's really cool too that he still plays budget import models in his videos. His studio is bare bones and not a big money/gear flex.

He's incredible. How do you produce entertainment with a bass? He's just about the only person who's ever done it, as far as I know. He discusses in one video how difficult it is to sustain a youtube channel, and it made me feel bad for him. Oppressively difficult, it seemed. I take everything he says with a grain of salt because he is always kidding, basically. So I don't believe he has never otherwise played live either.

He may be one of the most commercially successful bass players out there.

He may not be the best player, or most technical player, or be on the most recordings, or have had the most rewarding musical journey, or toured with the big names, but he's made a good amount of money as a bass player, and has a huge following. That's being a successful musician.

A lot of people here - me included - are nowhere near his level of success.
There's plenty of big names in the bass world that had all those things mentioned above, that I have absolutely no interest in, or their music, but I can't deny their success with it.
Some people just can't be happy for other people.

Davie504 seems to have found a way to be successful on his own terms, and I applaud him for that.
He doesn't have to deal with Lead Singer Disease, or drunk drummers, or too-loud guitarists, or left hand heavy keyboard players, or awful load-ins for gigs, or drunk audience members, or poor PA systems, or sketchy promotors, or acoustically nightmarish venues, or late night drives, or mid-show blown speakers/amps, or bad weather, or any of the thousand things that can be a pain to the average working musician.

His Reddit presence is insane. He's not just working YouTube he's working all the right places.
