Double Bass DB and Bike

Let's bump this interesting thread.

Having now a DB since a few weeks, the bike transportation topic was another challenge to be solved, moreover since I've never even had a driving license. After thinking about it in theory last night while falling asleep – and again while waking up – today I tested three scenarios, using only stuff that I've already had at hand anyway.

Mode #1
The DB was already fixed on my trusty old hand trolley after walking with it. The whole thing is then fixed onto the bike trailer as is. The bass actually stands on the endpin:

Mode #2
The compacted hand trolley serves as a stand, to keep the DB in upright position so that its headstock wouldn't hit my own head(stock) while biking:

Mode #3
Well, usually I may actually also need to bring my combo and my antique "flight" case with stuff in it:

Mode #3 being the most probable scenario. As a lifelong city inhabitant I've been going to gigs like this with guitars or bass guitars since many years. Within a radius of, say, 15 km it's always been a no-brainer, come rain or come shine.

To do:
Cut a plastic foam pillow to put on the trailer floor. I think I still have a large piece of foam somewhere in the cellar…

This is my cargo bike from a few years back- I have since switched to a model with 27 gears. And to a fantastic Cronkhite bag. But the basic idea is the same.

Usually, my MAS26 goes on the rear baggage holder and my Woods MI100-8 in a messenger bag over my shoulder.

I ride past this spot on my commute home from work nowadays.

In a heavy rain, won't the bag get soaked through?
Well, define "heavy rain"… :) In a truly heavy rain I'd probably use public transport anyway.
For "light" or "mid-range" rain I've got a large strong plastic foil to fully wrap the bass and the amp.
Here, for example, I'm using a plastic foil as the roof of my flea market record booth which I've built around the same bike trailer:

I'd be looking for some trash can liners
That's a good idea for additional protection of the bass. I've been already using it for the amp.
